Philosophy

By Rachael Boekamp

I believe a Child’s Early Years are a very important time in a child’s life; these years instill the fundamentals of a child’s belief, morals, culture, and learning. I believe that through a child’s interactions with people, places, and experiences that they learn who they are and about the environment around them.

I believe that family, teachers, community, and the environment all play a big part in the scaffolding and extending of a child and their interests. Having a happy, caring and a safe environment for each child to blossom and grow as individuals in our community.

As a family is unique in its structure, culture, and values, I respect the special relationship between children and their families, incorporating this perspective in my interactions I aim to help children develop positive, supportive relationships with all families.

I believe it is important to work hard in creating an environment, where the minute you step inside the centre, you and your child will feel a sense of belonging and feel a part of a welcoming community.

Teaching is a lifelong learning process of learning about new philosophies and new strategies, learning from the parents and community, learning from colleagues, and especially learning from the children. Children and Educators have taught me to open my mind and my heart to the joys, the innocence, and the diversity of ideas in the world.
